Equalities Statement
Our school is committed to promoting equality, valuing diversity and creating an inclusive environment where every pupil, member of staff and visitor is treated with dignity, fairness and respect.
We recognise our legal responsibilities under the Equality Act 2010 and the Public Sector Equality Duty. We aim to eliminate discrimination, harassment and victimisation; advance equality of opportunity; and foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.
The protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 are age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.
We are committed to ensuring that all pupils have access to high-quality education, feel safe and included, and are supported to achieve their full potential. We work to identify and remove barriers to learning, challenge prejudice and discrimination, and promote understanding and respect for the differences within our school and wider community.
Our equality objectives are reviewed regularly and help us identify practical actions to improve outcomes, strengthen inclusion and ensure that equality remains central to our school’s values and practice.
Our Equality Objectives
Our equality objectives focus on the following priorities:
-
Achievement and opportunity: To identify and address barriers to learning and achievement so that all pupils can make progress and fulfil their potential.
-
Inclusion and belonging: To create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment in which everyone is valued, differences are respected and discrimination is challenged.
-
Curriculum and understanding: To ensure that our curriculum and wider school experiences promote diversity, challenge stereotypes, raise aspirations and develop pupils' understanding of equality, respect and inclusion.
-
Participation and accessibility: To ensure that all pupils can access and participate in the full range of educational and wider school opportunities, making appropriate adjustments and providing support where needed.
